WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

David Greco was an amazing trainer - inspirational and informative.

David is a highly engaging speaker. He is energetic, funny, and very informative. He made a somewhat inaccessible subject very approachable.

I have heard David Greco's talk before and I learn something every time. I love his energy, his humor, and he makes me want to run to the office and get out 990s to do some financial analysis and liquidity ratios - yay!

The delivery and engagement David continued to give the class and answered questions made it clear to understand. He's great and funny.

Every topic was highly relevant, made complex info understandable. Engaging speaker, very clearly explained. Excellent workshop!

Loved this! Wish we could have had our entire board in this session

THE THINK MONEY FIRST! WORKSHOP SERIES

The Think Money First! workshop series is a 4- or 5-part program designed to incorporate multiple learning formats, allowing for greater interaction for participants and in-depth exploration of organizational challenges.

Executive Directors and board members attend a series of in-person trainings, complete at-home assignments, tackle specific areas of need, and share results and challenges through peer learning opportunities. In addition, participants are provided exercises, tools and resources they can take back to their organization.

Between sessions, we hold online group coaching sessions to review content, answer questions, share learnings and experiences, and go deeper into key knowledge areas.

Session 1: Building a Culture of Sustainability & Impact
Leaders need to challenge the myth that social sector organizations are not sustainable, and that their business models are fundamentally broken. These beliefs are not reality.  Social sector organizations can be profitable and they can be sustainable all while delivering real impact. But to get there we need to overcome the scarcity mindset that assumes a nonprofit starts from the position of need, inadequacy, and burden, rather than a position of opportunity, strength, and effectiveness.
Session 2: Assessing Financial Health
What are the critical pieces of financial data social sector leaders need to understand to make better, more informed decisions that drive organizational sustainability? We will focus on helping leaders understand two key questions: “Are you living within your means?” and “What is your ability to manage risk or pursue opportunity?”
Session 3: Understanding Real Costs
What does it really cost to achieve great outcomes? Too often nonprofit leaders are focused on just funding the programmatic expenses of an organization. However, this programmatic revenue is only part of what it costs to be an effective and financially sustainable nonprofit organization. Organizations also need to understand their capacity and infrastructure investment needs, their liquidity needs, and their long-term capital needs including reserves.
Session 4: Adapting the Nonprofit Business Model
The social sector is in the midst of a fundamental transformation. If nonprofits are going to survive and continue to deliver resources, they must adapt as well. Whether organizations are looking at scaling programs, developing new revenue streams, launching new earned income or social enterprises, restructuring or even consolidating, it is critical that nonprofit leaders understand who is their customer and to be able to evaluate new business and revenue opportunities and their relative risk and returns on investment.
Session 5 (Optional): Organization Project Presentations
The key concepts from each session will be reviewed and all the components will be tied together in this final workshop.  Each participating organization will present a financial project and get feedback and suggestions from peers. The series will end with a brief culmination program.
